As a child my father gave me a children’s book about Pablo Picasso and his artwork The book changed the way saw things. It inspired me to learn more about art. I took painting lessons for about a year. My love of art grew. In high school I took photography for 3 years. It was my passion. It was also in high school that I began Beauty College. It was there that I learned the art of hair design and make up artistry. Some people just have a natural gift for it; was one of the lucky few, have an eye for beauty, It has allowed me to make good living and express my creativity at the same time.
Most people would not consider cosmetology a visual art, but beg to differ. If a person is skilled at their art, the dimensions of colors and light in the hair can be both beautiful and artistic, In order to be a good cosmetologist; you need a good knowledge of color, light reflection, depth and dimension. My painting classes helped to give me a good base for this kind of work and have helped me to be successful at what do. Love the artistic aspect of my job.
