    Bishaaro Ali Abud is a young woman who was born in Baidoa City, specifically in a village called Isha of the second range, in August 1990. She has always lived in Baidoa City and has never moved to another place, except when she went to Wajid district of Bakol region to help her aunt, who had recently given birth. The aunt’s husband works for the World Food Program (WFP). On January 1st, the aunt got sick and went to a nearby region (Hudur) to get medical help from relief organizations operating in that region. On January 2nd, at midnight, Bishaaro was awakened by the aunt’s husband, who ordered her to make some tea which he wanted to use for Narakotic green leaves, locally known as Kat.” “Feeling disturbed, I lit a fire, made the tea for him, and went back to sleep,” Bishaaro narrated. “I was sleeping smoothly when I felt someone over me, so I opened my eyes and saw a naked man pulling down my sleeping bag.”

    I tried to cry, but he threatened me with a knife and covered the sleeping bag over my mouth. After a short while, I realized that it was a rape and also recognized the man as the husband of someone. He told me to make the same movements while he was trying to have intercourse with me or he would kill me. As I was a natural virgin, he failed to insert his groin in me, so he used the knife to cut me open. Heavy bleeding caused me to faint and lose consciousness. After two days, my aunt returned with three guys, and they took me back to Baidoa city. Bishaaro concluded that some members from SACRO (Somali advocate child rights) went to this abused daughter whose father is mentally wrecked and cannot afford to help his daughter. SACRO succeeded in taking the responsibility of treating this daughter and paid a doctor who cured her instantly. The next day, all members of SACRO took a meeting and made the following decisions:

    1. To take the daughter to a better hospital.
    2. To report the matter to the concerned organizations.
    3. To give help to the daughter’s family.

    She also cannot go back to her original settlement because the man who committed the rape is still a menace to her life. He paid a professional killer to assassinate her in a bid to get rid of the stigma aroused by the rape. Even if there were no assassinations, she is encircled by shame.

    Request:

    As we SACRO, we request NOVIB for temporary assistance for the forced girl mentioned above, which lasts for six months. Then we hope circumstances may change, or SACRO can take care of her by individual contributions.

    Monthly Requirements:

    • Rent House: 6 X 120 = 720$
    • Daily food: 6 X 200 = 1200$
    • Medical clothes Transportation: 6 X 150 = 900$
    • Body Guard (two watchmen): 6 X 300 = 1800$

    Total = 4620$
