Like with any achievement, I am overjoyed to be recognized from the sponsors of the National Honor Society. This shows that I have displayed promising traits for this essential organization. Much less, it would be an honorable privilege to represent the nationwide National Honor Society with my shown attributes. National Honor Society acknowledges the four major criteria that any candidate should have. These four aspects are scholarship, leadership, service, and character. With many hardships accomplished throughout my years in high school, I believe I follow the main four criteria of the National Honor Society. I have interacted anyone I know with integrity, trustworthiness, compassion, and reliability. Likewise, I am determined to represent National Honor Society with my personality and characteristics.
To say nothing of, I have shown scholarship due to my wish on being successful in the unpredictable future. Every effort is put into all my assignments as I know everything is critical in the long run. Additionally, if I had come across any sorts of confusion, I sought assistance through my teachers during tutoring hours. It was essential to thrive for prosperity and reaching my goals. Furthermore, I even took additional classes over the summer for my studies. Alas, my efforts lead up to my GPA to be 6.53 in my junior year. I am rank 31 out of 633. This has disappointed me though. Unfortunately, I was not informed about the certain types of electives in my school that can lower your GPA. Though, this outcome gives fuel to my determination to go even further in my scholarship. In the end, I plan to advance into learning the unknown and learn more for my academics.
In spite of my focus on my studies, I have also shown service and character within my family and school life. It is common for families to be supportive of what their child does in the local community. Even so, there was a time in my freshmen year that I never thought my family would be in the way of serving my community. That was because my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer. It was the most devastating news I heard that freshmen year. With this, I was unable to stay after school or participate the community services I desired to. The reason being was because I was the only one in the family that understand English very well. Every time my grandpa was treated in the hospital, my mother wanted me to follow along just in case of a language barrier happening with the doctor or nurse. During this distressing time, I was at the hospital countless hours especially very late at night.
Later on, I was then put into a position to take care of my ill grandpa when he was home. My grandma was able to feed him through the G-Tube when my grandpa was unable to eat by mouth. Though, my aunt, who lived in my grandpa’s house, was too afraid to feed him herself. She felt like she would mess up something. So when my grandma went to work, I was the one in charge of feeding my grandpa and giving him his medications as my grandma was away. In this light, I did not mind for taking care of my cancer-diagnosed grandpa. Although I was unable to do any service hours I wished I could do due to my cautious parents. Sadly, my grandpa lost the fight to cancer within a year as he endured the fatal sickness. Ultimately, I was able to be on my toes and serve my grandpa during his last years of living. I also was able to gain character as I took care of my grandpa for half of my high school years. Even though I have not earned my community service hours, I hope that if I do become a member of the National Honor Society so I can make up for the hours I couldn’t do. With my loving grandpa’s spirit in my heart, I wish to proceed life with inspiration on making him proud.
When I could, I stayed after for tennis numerous times. Tennis was a sport I picked up in my freshmen year, Never did I think it would be something so valuable to me. Every day I manage to put in so much physical and mental energy into this sport I love. Let alone, I practiced with every single breath I could breathe during the class period. This accomplishment leads me to become one of the very few sophomores on the Varsity team. Even now, I have climbed my way up to be number three on the tennis ladder in my junior year. When my foot comes across a tennis court, it is essential to me to be a role model for those around me. So with this, I assisted freshmen and my own peers on techniques and skills in hitting the ball. The environment surrounding my very own body, it transforms me into a leader. I am that someone, who is admired upon. Every obstacle I come across I am required to be a role model and show how to achieve it. That is my role as a team player and a leader of the tennis team.
Thus, I am pleased that I have an opportunity to apply for the National Honor Society. My traits fit the required criteria for this vast organization. Getting a chance to become a member of the National Honors Society, my energy and personality can take account to. I can spread my positiveness to others within my school, show how it is to be a scholar and a leader.
