The 2008 Presidential Primaries saw a variety of candidates who believed they had the right stuff but it really came down to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama as Presidential candidates for the Democratic Party and John Mc Cain and Mitt Romney were candidates for the Republican Party. But before I address this, I would be careless not to address issues that I believe affected how the Democratic Party was perceived during the 2008 primaries. When John Edwards who was holding himself up to be holier than thou was found to be having an ongoing affair with a woman who worked for him as a Graphic Designer, his behavior proved that you can rarely trust some politicians or take them at their word. This was particular bad because his wife was suffering with cancer and despite that fact; he was carrying on with another woman and fathered a child with her. Though much of what happened played out in the media, I’m sure that we’ll never know the real truth about how this terrible news negatively affected the health of his wife who stood so faithfully at his side during his campaign and throughout their marriage.
As a woman, I felt her pain and have little respect for any woman who knowingly goes after a married man. Though he initially denied the affair, he later was forced to admit it and acknowledge the child that he had fathered with his mistress. His bad behavior ended his chances of becoming President of the United States and holding any other office.Barack Obama had his own set of problems when an old tape by his Pastor Jeremiah Wright came back to haunt him. It showed how Pastor Wright had made derogatory comments against Whites in one of his Sunday Sermons. The discovery of this taped sermon, forced Barack Obama to distanc.
.ce but what turn me off were the constant character assassinations made about Barack Obama. It sickened me and still makes me cringe inside. But nothing gives me the cringe factor more than John Boehner. I just don’t see where he gets the idea that he doesn’t need to respect President Obama. As I’ve watched several state of the union addresses made by President Obama, I couldn’t help but notice the Republicans reactions to what President Obama was saying but I particularly have notice how much John Boehner has an intense dislike for the President.
He can’t cover it up. It’s almost as though he has something to prove to the other fellow Republicans. Whatever the case, I believe that he is a poor Representative for the Republican Party and though they may have won the House and Senate majority, the Republicans lose in the tact, sensitivity and respect department.
