ATTENTION: MR Salary ManTO: WNBA Salary BoardFAX NO: 817-596-8405FROM: Mamma Thomas: Agent Latoya ThomasProfessional Sports Representation AgentSUBJECT: Rookie Salary NegotiationsLatoya ThomasRookie Salary NegotiationsBeau BlackApril 30, 2001Dear Sir, I am writing to discuss the details of Latoyas Thomas contract in which my client disagrees upon. For entry into the 2001/2002 Womens National Basketball Association, referred to from here as the WNBA, player draft. Latoya is a 61 all around player and is very versatile my client is now playing for the WNBA and has considered coming to America to play for your league the WNBA In looking over the minimum requirements I noticed that a few things rose to my attention. In particular endorsements allowed, contract length, sponsorships, work out dates, travel conditions, and salary increments. I will attempt to address all of my reservations and offer suggestions to remedy these requirements and leave room for negotiation between your negotiation team and myself. If you can not meet these requirements then my client will not be allowed to enter your WNBA draft 2001/2002.

Firstly, let me quickly outline Latoyas extensive playing history and this will demonstrate the level of play that Latoya can offer to your league. Starting out at 11 years old in the seventh grade Latoya played for Dent Middle School. In the eigth grade she also played for Richland Northeast High School on the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams. In continuing her career she made the Varsity team her Freshmen year and contiuned to play all four years.

As a freshmen she averaged 15 points per game and was named Freshmen of the year. As a Sophmore she averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds. As a Junior, Latoya averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assist. She also lead the team and the nation in scoring. She lead the team to a Conference championship and a State Championship.

As a Senior she was #1 player in the nation, averaged a triple double with 31 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assist. For the second consecutive year in history she lead team to a state championship and lead the nation in scoring. All four years in High school she was selected to be on the all-state team, all- region team, and all-conference team. During the summers of her High School years she would continue practicing and playing for an AAU team. To play for an AAU team you must be selected by the regional committee of which you belong to as a player. All four years LaToya was a starter and lead the team in scoring three consecutive years with an overall average of 23.

7 per game. COLLEGE YEARSWeatherford Junior College was selected for Latoya to attend by Julia Wavius whom is the Head women basketball coach at University of South Carolina. While attending Weatherford College LaToya as a freshmen was named Freshmen of the year. Averaging 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Also Selected First team all-conference and First team all-region. Lead the team in scoring and to a conference championship. As a sophomore she was named player of the year. Averaging 29. 5 points per game and 12 rebounds which lead the team to a second conferece championship and to a Regional and National Championship.

Latoya continued to play at Lamar University as a Junior and Senior. As a Junior LaToya started and lead the team in scoring and was named Southland player of the year averaging 27 points asnd 7 rebounds. As a senior Latoya was the leading rebounder to ever lead the nation in the history of Lamar University. She was selected to be in the WNBA draft in which you are well aware of but she turned the offer down to play due to low salary and and disrespectfullness towards womens basketball. So in response to your letter you sent my client asking her to reenter your draft I hope you understand what type of player you are asking for and why her standards are so high.

LIFE OVERSEASAfter turnig down the entry WNBA draft Latoya decided to go overseas and play for the NBA(NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATIN). The NBA was established in 1946 and was divided into two separate leagues one which was made for men and one made overseas for women. So as you can see this league is well established. The players are well taken care.

The NBA is sponsored by every name brand basketball shoe ex. Nike, Reebok, and Adidas etc. The contract for the NBA is six years starting out if you drafted and three years if your a free agent. The NBA also uses the train when they travel on away games. The housing is all paid for and furnished and it is yours to keep.

You have Life insurance for the rest of your life even if you stop playing once you have signed the contract under all circumstances. NBA starting salary is 3 million and maximum starting salary is 7 million. As you read Im sure you see the difference in comparison to your league. My client is very greatful where she is and these are the changes you may need to consider if you want Latoya to play continue her career in the WNBA.
