The Right To LifeLife is a right held by all creatures on the universe, everything has life; however, everything also has it’s own character orindividuality. Every person is his or her own self and does what he or shewishes to do to a certain extent. Many people are opposed to an individualsdecision on life they should realize that in America people have the freedom todo what they want. In Roman times, abortion ans the destruction of unwanted children waspermissible, however civilization’s aged and now there is a huge controversyabout who chooses. In the 1970’s the Roe v.
Wade was tried in the U. S. SupremeCourt. Jane Roe’ took the District Attorney of Dallas county to the SupremeCourt because she wanted an abortion and was not legally permitted to have onewhere she lived. She could not afford to travel elsewhere to have it “preformed”so she went to court.
On January 22, 1973 the Supreme Court said that it waslegal for any woman to have an abortion and terminate her pregnancy at any giventime. The Roman Catholic Church has said that abortion is murder and violatesall terms of human morality. My personal opinion lays between that of the RomanCatholic Church and the Supreme Court. I believe that a woman should have theright to an abortion only if she was raped and can not afford to have the child,or if she does not know who the father is.
If the woman just want’s to have anabortion for no reason, believes that the baby will be born with a handicap, orwill be born with a disease, life threatening or not the abortion should not bepermitted to take place. Within the past year President Clinton has vetoed abill that will outlaw “partial birth abortions,” I strongly oppose his decisionand believe that he should have outlawed them. In New Jersey, there is anassemblywoman writing a bill that would outlaw them in New Jersey and fine eachparty involved twenty-five thousand dollars. Assisted suicide has also been a controversial topic concerning the right tolife.
I believe that everyone should come to accept the fact that people havethe right to choose to live of die. I think that assisted suicides should belegal only if the person is terminally ill. The person should be able to choosewhen to end his or her own life if he or she is terminally ill. I stronglyoppose assisted suicide if the person just wants to kill himself or herself forno particular reason. If that is the case he or she should go seek counselingfrom a priest or counselor. A family should also have the right to disconnect aperson from life support if he or she will never be able to live life withoutany physical limitations.
If a family has the right to do this then a personshould have the right to do this to him or her self. Death is a part of lifethat many people are afraid to face. Weather it be a loved one or a worst enemy, everybody mourns during the time of death. Assisted suicide should be legal, butwith certain limitations like seeking a permit every time it happens and havingto prove that the person is terminally ill.
I think that life is a right and a privilege given by God to everybody andeverything that has ever existed. Although there will probably never be aresolution to this conflict in my lifetime, It would be nice to see at least oneday where everybody will unify their opinions and work together to solve thisconflict that has a part in ever household and life in the world.
