Leaders make a great influential impact on many young people in the world. History has shown many exemplifications of influential leaders. My youth leader, Ashton Reynolds, has made a huge impact on my life by his teachings and actions.
Ashton has been a big helping hand in drawing me closer to the Lord. He has helped me find my way back on the road of righteousness by instructing me to walk in the light of the Lord. During the summer of 2011, he taught my youth group a lesson about staying on the beaten path God has made for me. The path is mainly about following what the Lord has planned for me and how I achieve it. He explain that, “Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.”
Since that lesson, I try to make a commitment to glorify the Lord at least once a day to ensure myself that I am walking on the right path. Ashton has encouraged me to stay strong and have perseverance through rough patches so that I do not stray from what is right. His lesson greatly influenced how I react to certain situations and how I am morally driven.
Being a strong, Christian example is also of importance to Ashton. I never see him put someone down because they are a little different. Ashton has preached to his youth that God wants us all to be good examples for the people in our everyday lives by treating them with kindness and love. My role as a Christian is to be ethically inclined to all people.
Ashton’s willingness to treat people with the same respect he has for every other person, has given me the motivation to do the same. A simple act of kindness is greatly accepted by anyone who needs or wants it. He has made me realize that I too, can impact someone’s life by being a good Christian example.
Ashton inspires me to think outside of the box. He is not afraid to speak his creative mind. I strive to be as open minded as this adventurous man. Reynolds makes me consider the unimaginable and assume the greatest. Countless times he has caused me to think beyond my norm; my thoughts begin to prosper and grow more in depth.
Ashton once said to me, “learning about God is as cool as sliced gravy.” This quote made me wonder why in the world would he be comparing this type of learning to gravy. At first I thought his statement was blasphemy but as he explained it I realized it was valid. Gravy is a unique substance that can be sliced in half when it is cold. At which point I realize learning about God is also very unique and special to me; as is gravy when it is sliced in half.
There are many other ways Ashton Reynolds has impacted me. I hope to find more people like Ashton to impact my life as he has. Ashton is a prime example of a leader for God’s followers. He will continue to inspire me to learn from him and be an influential leader similar to Ashton. Ashton Reynolds has made the most positive impact on my life.
