What does everyone want to have in life? What is the first priority of every single person on this planet? Good health right?
Everyone should be guaranteed good health and the right to life. Does this include the poor’should the poor receive healthcare? Most indefinitely they should. I am here today to convince all of you that healthcare is a pure necessity and should become cheaper and even become free.
Let me tell you what’s going on in poorer countries, right now, they are suffering from malnutrition, unclean/safe water, low levels of sanitation, little to no safe shelters, and overall unhealthy environments and all of these issues leads to high amounts of exposure to deadly disease(Dr. Christopher).
The current state of these poor countries is absurd, the number of deaths and the number of people extremely sick. Think I’m over-exaggerating? Let’s go to an example of Uganda Uganda’s health inequalities with the poor are so low that the maternal mortality ratio is 435 deaths per 100,000 live births, infant and under 5 mortality rates are 75 and 137 per 1,000 live births(dr.christopher).
Uganda is a great example of the vast amounts of poorness in the world, Uganda suffers from one of the worst of this epidemic that is sweeping the world. This is just a small example of how horrible this epidemic it is, this is a fraction of the humongous scale that this issue is. This is the current status quo of our nation and the world and it is horrendous.
Only about $100 is used on healthcare to 2 billion poor people per capita every year. That’s completely unfair! People usually overlook the thought that the poor don’t receive any forms of healthcare. The damage done by this fault is between 200 million DALYs and 500 million DALYs per year.
For reference, D-A-L-Y stands for disability-adjusted life year. (80,000 hours) It is crucial that we make healthcare free, around ten million poor people in poorer countries die off every year. Currently, in the United States, we are in need of four million extra doctors, Want to here something repulsive? Our nation is ranked 25th in the whole world for doctors, and physicians for roughly 25 per 1000 people.
Our nation needs to step up the plate! Our nation needs not only to open its eyes and look around itself, yet it needs to open up and understand the current state of our nation. Our nation needs to understand, people are dying for an easily preventable reason. We are a ticking time bomb of death(simile), we are allowing the minorities such as the poor to die in this country due to ignorance of the fact of the deaths.
Why wouldn’t we do this? Why don’t we value the lives of the poor? Why don’t we take the simple step and provide more doctors and nurses? Why don’t we take the time to donate and help and ensure that all villages have water? (anaphora) We as a nation are undermining the deaths of our own people. We are blind to this. I strongly believe that we must make healthcare free/cheaper.
Now, how can we fix this? We must begin to focus health development on poorer countries to begin to stop this gap in health indifferences. Now, I have clearly stated this issue now let’s get on to solving it. How many cheaps is it to go buy some medicine from the pharmacy? Cheap right?
Let’s break down what needs to happen for the poor to have more access to health expenses and technologies, it can be broken up into 3 main parts, affordability, availability, and adoption. Medicine is fairly cheap we should be able to cover this pretty well. the 1st point. Availability?
Of course, it’s available! Look at our own town how far away is CVS pharmacy or a drug store, couple miles maybe? Maybe even less right? This should be able to us and we should be able to deliver to these people. Adoption, proper use essentially, what else what the poor use it for? They’re dying! I don’t think they’re first thought would be to sell it and make money when they’re dying themselves!
Children all around the world need simple things such as clean water, bednets and simple forms of medicine. Don’t they deserve that?
This seems like a simple answer right? Can anyone tell me a problem with improving the health of our nation? Can anyone tell me a problem with giving people life’shouldn’t everyone be guaranteed this’shouldn’t we all be guaranteed the right to LIVE?
This should be GUARANTEED to everyone who even BREATHES on this EARTH. Every single person should be guaranteed the right to live! Diseases in these countries are beginning to become easily one of the highest reasons for such high deaths rates, and low life expectancy. I personally think it’s absolutely absurd that people are dying for no reason.
Generally, if this issue had a real fine line of problems between it, it could be even possibly acceptable. Yet, there are so many solutions that can come about from simply donating. It is not fair to take the right to life from our own people, we should value the life of others over the economic growth of ourselves. We are selfish to ourselves and greedy.
Why can’t we donate to these poor organizations such a little amount to give them the support that they need? Why can’t we take the most miniscule amounts of our money and give it to the people who really need it? Why can’t we allocate for the 4 million doctors and nurses that we need in this country, because of our blindness, our arrogance, cand our ignorance!
What could go wrong? Allowing poor people to have access requires that people and businesses have passion, devote time and use some resources to new technology and carefully craft strategies for addressing this. Can we not do this to save a couple million lives?
Let’s recap, our world is currently in a state of denial. We are denying the fact of the countless numbers of deaths which are happening every year. We are denying the fact of the existence of these minorities.
Still don’t get it? Let’s think of it simply like this. Imagine you are at one side of the door, you are completely content playing with your thumbs and happy in content. Know what’s behind that door? Mass death, suffering, pain, hardships, and a countless number of people extremely sick.
To think of it simplistically we NEED to open that door. We are ignorant of the fact of this problem which is easily preventable. As a nation right now we currently value our money over the good of the people. I value the lives of our people over my money.
Isn’t it a right to live a proper life? Isn’t a right to live?
I genuinely cannot think of reasoning behind not promoting this. I am so sorry, but if anyone can tell me fair reasoning that why money is more important than lives than I apologize I must be crazy. But until then, step up, donate a couple of dollars to save that child from malaria, encourage our country and promote their dreams to become a doctor, he/she could save countless numbers of lives.
This is simply a case of life or death, I don’t know about all of you here, but I hope it made it abundantly clear to all of you that you should pick life. I strongly believe we can all do something and step up against health epidemic!
I personally after researching this topic have made the decision that I am going to donate to this health epidemic that I know for a fact will help someone and save their life. What are you gonna do? Not me! What about you?
