America is the number one country that people from all around the world want to come in order to have a better life. To be able to enter the United States legally, the country requires a Visa for entering and be able to stay in the period of time. However there are some people that happen to enter the country illegally without the visa. According to the Migration Policy institute, in 2012 there are 11.4 undocumented immigrants in the US. and 4.1 million undocumented immigrants who brought children who were under 16 to the country with them. Unfortunately, the children who come to America illegally at such a young age do not know about their status in the country. They embrace America as their own country and they are familiar with the US. more than the countries that they were born in. Moreover young undocumented immigrants who grow up in America more likely to eager to push themselves to be nearly as American. Education is what makes them move to the middle class, to be Americanized. Although, the road for young undocumented immigrants had been impossible to reach, but the government has been introduced the policy that makes young undocumented students’ lives more reality which are “DACA and DREAMS Act”. DACA and DREAM act are the policies that have good benefits to young undocumented immigrants, however, there are downsides to this two policies that could harm immigrants who live in America illegally.

In America, there might be 1.8 million out of 11.4 million undocumented immigrants that could qualify for DACA and Dream ACTS, according to Migration Policy institute

DACA and Dream Act are the two laws that are significant for undocumented immigrants in the US. And go in favor of the people who came to the US. when they were under 16 years old illegally to gain an access to legal documents such as getting driver license, college financial benefit, work permit, social security and legal appearance in the USA. DACA stands for “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival” which is the program that came out in 2012 by President Obama Administration while Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors as known as DREAM Act is the legislation that has been introduced since 2001 but has not passed Congress yet.

DACA and Dream Act can benefit undocumented Immigrants who are eligible in the terms of access to education and legal condition. Undocumented Immigrants who meet the requirements of DACA and Dream Acts will be able to ask for in-state tuition, financial aid or some scholarships from the college which means that for undocumented students who are really serious about improving themselves or having dreams to go to college, DACA and DREAM ACT will help their dreams come true. Moreover, under DACA laws will protect the students who are eligible for the program from deportation and allow them to be in United State legally for two years with extension period while DREAM Act would allow the undocumented students to get the permanent residency and citizenship if the bill is passed the congress. Also DACA-mented, the students who get accepted in DACA program, can apply for a driver’s license, work permit, social security number which gives them opportunities for undocumented to work legally after finishing college.

DACA and DREAM Act appear to be helpful to undocumented students to have the same access as legal resident, in contrast , DACA and Dream Act still have disadvantage facts for the remain illegal immigrants including the students who qualify. First of all, as DACA and Dream Act are aimed toward the undocumented immigrants who came to America since they were children which leaves out nearly 10 million illegal immigrants who will not be able to qualify for DACA and DREAM Act which can lead to inequality among illegal immigrants . Also DACA and dream Acts are for individual immigrant which means that the undocumented students who get accepted in DACA or Dream ACTS will not be able to apply the same status to their parents or relatives, and that will create the mixed status in the family. In fact, mixing status in the family can create anxiety in the family that the government might discover their illegal status and deport illegal parents or relatives back to their native countries. In addition, DACA will stay efficient for only two years with extension possibility. In other words, there is no guarantee for the next step for DACA students. If that approved undocumented student does meet the requirement for extension that she or he might have to drop out of school because she will not get access to the finance benefit. Furthermore, most companies are more likely not to hire the temporary employee which can be the hardship that DACA-mented have to face since they receive “legal presence” for only two years.

To follow their American Dream, undocumented immigrants who came to the United States when they were really young, need DACA and DREAM Act to help them pursue the education and better lives. DACA is the law that helps undocumented student access to affordable education while DREAM Acts would help them to become Americans. The bad news is that the DREAM act has not become law yet and DACA is not a stable law and can be canceled any time depends on the next US. President’s policy. In spite of, the obstacle fact, DACA is the first step that helps young undocumented immigrants pursue high education and get the better career. To get the better career means that they will improve their life qualities and provide secure income for their families.
