Pollution is the introduction of a harmful or poisonous substance or material into the environment. Pollution refers to the presence of unwanted materials in the natural environment, which most often occurs due to human activities.

In particular, soils, water, and air are polluted.

Below we will discuss the main types of pollution

1. Air Pollution

Air pollution is the introduction of harmful substances into the air, which has a negative impact on the environment as well as on humans. As a result, the air is no longer clean.
In particular, hydrocarbons, various organic compounds, dust particles and gases are released into the air.

This can lead to negative consequences for human health and the condition of animals and plants.

Emissions from factories and plants are one of the clearest examples of the causes of air pollution.

However, air pollution can also occur for reasons beyond human control.

In particular, volcanic eruptions or wildfires can also cause serious air pollution.

2. Water Pollution

Water pollution includes harmful discharges into rivers, seas, oceans, lakes, and groundwater.
It occurs when alien chemicals or materials enter the water, which can lead to negative effects on a body of water’s ecosystem.

Water is considered the second most polluted natural resource after air.

3. Land Pollution

Pollution of land is the deterioration of the surface quality of the land, its unsuitability to support the existence of living organisms.
It is directly or indirectly related to human activities.

Pollution of the earth occurs when garbage is not disposed of, which in turn causes toxins and chemicals to enter the soil.

It also happens when people dump chemicals on the ground. Mining and development also leads to land degradation.

All of this leads to significant negative effects on human health, plant life, and soil quality.

4. Pollution of soils

Soil contamination occurs as a result of chemicals getting into the soil, which leads to the deterioration of the soil.
This happens as a result of mining operations, vegetation clearance, and soil erosion.

It is usually directly or indirectly related to human activities, particularly through the discharge of chemicals, substances or objects into soils, which can cause significant damage to the ecosystem.

5. Noise pollution

Noise pollution refers to high levels of noise that cause discomfort to humans as well as animals.
The volume level of sound is measured in decibels. If the volume level exceeds certain values, it is customary to speak of noise pollution.

Loudness levels over 100 decibels can lead to hearing loss. According to the World Health Organization norms, the recommended noise level in enterprises should not exceed 75 decibels.

In today’s society, however, noise has become a constant companion of everyday life.

We hear noise in transport, in factories. Unlike other types of pollution, noise does not accumulate in the atmosphere.

But it is important to note that noise pollution affects not only humans, but also animal life, particularly marine life, and high noise levels can even lead to the death of some species.

6. Thermal pollution

Thermal pollution occurs when the temperature regime of water bodies is disturbed.
This usually occurs as a result of human activities, particularly industrial production.

Thermal pollution affects lakes, rivers, oceans, and ponds.

In today’s world, thermal pollution is associated with factories and plants that use water from water bodies as a coolant.

Thus, thermal pollution is a type of water pollution.

7. Light pollution

Light pollution is related to the excessive use of artificial lighting, in particular we are talking about street lighting, billboards and so on.
As a result, it disrupts the natural cycles of life in nature, and it also has negative consequences for humans, who may also have disturbed sleep cycles.

8. Visual Pollution

The term “visual pollution” is used when referring to something that obscures the view, prevents one from looking at something.
This is mainly a matter of aesthetics, and often the term is used if some object obscures the view of nature.

This is a rather subjective concept, as people’s understanding of beauty and aesthetic perception can vary significantly.

In general, when we talk about visual pollution, we talk about cities that have no or very little green space, so that people do not see nature.
