Age of Responsibility

Responsibility can judge a person’s behavior can be accounted for when the person wants to do accomplish something special later on in their life. The age for adults and teens are important because it will show how responsible they are to others. Political laws say that teenagers and adults can be judged for how responsible they can be. One example is how a sixteen year old can get a driver’s license, but only allowed to drive when they reach eighteen or higher.

Some states agree that the age of eighteen means teenagers are then considered as adults. According to an article called “Age of Responsibility” by Allan Greenblatt, it states “people question the age of teenagers from their maturity or by being adolescent”. This can include the fact that before soldiers were not able to vote but were instead able to die for their country when they were in battle. Later on though the Amendment changed the age to eighteen instead.

This means that when lowering the age of some laws, it makes it easier for everyone at a certain age to be able to do them legally. Others believe the age should be at the age of twenty or higher. According to an article called “Teenagers’ Texting Time Fails to Translate Into Sparkling Prose” by John

Hechinger, it states how “Teenagers can text away on their phones but when it comes to taking a test or an assignment, they wouldn’t know what to do or how they are supposed to do it”. In addition to this, students even now take their tests on a computer and their grade might increase or won’t increase by the fact that they would search the answers online and would get the answers right, but they might lose points for plagiarizing and not using the information in their own words. In conclusion, teenagers wouldn’t be responsible enough in the real world if they cant even be responsible to do their own work correctly.

The final reason for teenagers being responsible can affect how they act towards others around them. According to an article called “On Compassion” by Barbara Lazear Ascher, it states how “a cashier gives an old man in need food and a coffee instead of telling him to get out or to not appear at the establishment anymore”. The cashiers reason for doing this is vague but the cashier was showing respect to the old man even if the reason was disrespectful. In conclusion, when respect is showed, respect is then shared with others.

When showing being respectful or showing responsibility towards others, people then realize how mature a teenager can be and it wouldn’t matter the age. It wouldn’t matter the age of having more control when it shows how much control they have when being successful in school or anywhere else when it comes to their decision of being successful. My personal answer be 20 years old. reason because when at 19, they start realizing the effects of being responsible and as they get older they then know what it takes to become responsible as a adult.
