College life is definitely different from high school life. For example, in high school one does not really have to think about a degree, but in college, he or she must declare a degree program before the first semester is complete. It is hard for me to decide what I want to do with my life. I am still trying to figure out what degree program I want to go into because I must research four important pieces of information. They are tuition, the duration of the course, the colleges that have the programs, and career opportunities. I have two programs that I am considering, and they are degrees in business and cosmetology.
A business degree is something I have been thinking about recently, but there are a lot of different things I must think about if I want to pursue this pathway. The total tuition for this course could cost around 6,000 to 26,000. It would take about two years to get an associate degree in business. MGCCC is the college I want to go to, and they even have a degree program at the Jackson County Campus, which is so amazing because it is so close to where I live. With this degree, the career opportunities would be endless, and these are the few I found: Business & Accounting, Professional Services, Casinos & Gaming, and Medical Offices
Getting involved in cosmetology is also something I have thought about, but as I stated in my second paragraph there are things I must look into if I want to pursue this career. To get in school he or she would have to pay a tuition of 6,000 to 30,000. They would have to be in school for one year to get their associate degree. The college that I looked in to is MGCCC, but the only two campuses that have the program is the George County Center and the West Harrison County Center. The only problem with that is that the centers are too far away for me to enroll in. There are fewer opportunities with a Cosmetology degree than with a Business career, and here are the few that I found Hairstylist Hair color artist, Facialist or esthetician, Waxer, and Manicurist. Cosmetology is still a great career choice.
In conclusion, I have two different programs that I am considering, and they are degrees in business and cosmetology. The cost and duration of the courses, the colleges that have the programs, and the opportunities in both careers are all things I have to consider. Both of these degrees have advantages and disadvantages but will take me very far in life non the less. The advantage of having a business or cosmetology degree is all the career choices I could potentially have. I will have to choose a pathway to go into and it will definitely be hard to decide what I want to pursue. I want to be successful in my life, and I also want to go into a career I know I’ll love and succeed at.
