I accordingly dissent with the police shooting to kill a fleeing burglar, because if that was the case, then every burglar will be dead for trying to steal something if they are caught by a policeman. So, if a thief tries to steal a pack of gum from a store and gets caught by a cop, does that mean that the thief is risking his life for a pack of gum and will end up dead for that.
If that is the case that a cop can shoot a fleeing burglar then everyone from the age 14 and up will end up dead for running away from a cop. What I don’t understand is that, why can’t a policeman run after or drive after a fleeing burglar when he/she is running from the police. The police are given guns for a reason and that is to protect themselves from other people trying to harm them. So, what’s the reason for a policeman to shoot a burglar who is running, and what’s the harm in that during to the policeman.
Also, what’s the reason for a policeman to pull out his/her gun just to shoot and kill a fleeing burglar with no weapons being shown by the burglar that can threaten a cop for his/her life. Why would a cop be so ready to shoot a fleeing burglar to kill them, and when a carjacker, or drug dealer run, they want to catch them and put them into jail. I just can’t understand why the police wouldn’t shoot to kill people like them. But for a little burglar, they probably think it’s O. K to shoot to kill a harmless burglar.
Police should be more worried about protecting the streets and getting criminals, drug dealers off the city streets instead of worrying about killing a fleeing burglar running from the police to keep from going to jail. If it was alright to kill a fleeing burglar then every burglar would be worried about dying from the hands of a policeman instead of going to jail. But every burglar worries about being caught and going to jail, now instead of worrying about that, they will have to worry about dying from the hands of a policeman just because he/she was trying to get away, and not even giving the police the right to shoot, like drawing a weapon.
