The Bible is persistent through both Old and New Testaments in explaining that homosexuality is sin: “Thou shall not lie with a male as with a woman, it is an abomination” (NKJ, Leviticus 18:22, biblegateway.com). I understand that all people should have equal rights, and we live in a democratic world, but the topic of same sex marriage is not one that should be up for debate. In my opinion, the feelings that people are having are not physical, they are mental.
Therefore why could it not be possible that a masculine woman may just need a man who has a more feminine (sensitive) side to bring balance, or vice versa, rather than believing they are a gay or lesbian? Same sex marriage should not be permitted because it is not the job of governing officials to initiate change to the laws of nature, it interferes with the mental stability of children and the family configuration, and it is an abomination to God.Order now
It is not the job of governing officials to initiate change to the natural law of nature. There are several reasons that same sex marriage should not be condoned, tolerated, or allowed. One reason being, it distorts natural law. Natural law is a body of unchanging moral principles regarded as a basis for all human conduct}, (Merriam-Webster.com, 2017) Simply looking at the way the life cycle is produced outside of the human structure shows that in order for life to continue, reproduction must happen. Marriage and religion are not a random option; they are inseparable.
The first amendment of our great nation announced in part, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.” For the government to intervene, on a seemingly regular basis, at this point in what is considered to be one of the most intimate times in our lives, foretells more complex and messy political propaganda. Nature puts things into perspective and gives us a legitimate model as a guide before man created havoc. People naturally want to do the right thing, the good thing, and a part of the natural law’s first principal is “do good, avoid evil” replied St. Thomas Aquinas, (Grisez, 1965). For this reason, a governing official should strive to do what is right in the sight of the Creator, by not getting tired of doing good, and teaching our children which way they should go by upholding the moral and natural laws of this land and God so they will not depart from it.
Furthermore, children do what they see their parents do. This is not to say that every child who is raised by a same sex couple will automatically be homosexuals, but the chances are significantly increased. Dawn Stefanowicz appealed to the courts against gay marriage, “I was exposed to overt sexual activities like sodomy, nudity, pornography, group sex, sadomasochism and the ilk”,(Brown, 2015). “The characteristics of a child’s social setting affect how he or she learns to think and behave, by means of instruction, rewards, and punishment,” (AAAS,1989). Our culture, or family environment, gives us ideas about what is considered important to us, and what place we have in the world. The way a family expresses themselves, affect children both mentally and physically. Dawn Stefanowicz also annouced “My rights and innocence were violated”,(Brown, 2015).
The family structure involving both a mom and dad is indispensable. Each one has their own very significant role to the blueprint of a child, and without them, it causes limitations to their full development. Cornerstone Family Council articulated “The cooperative input and influence of a male parent and a female parent is essential for proper child development,” (Stanton, n.d. para 1). Fathers tend to play with their kids, and mothers tend to care for their children. There are similarities in how people respond to patterns of leadership when raised in the same parental culture.
“The more the family structure is deviated from in this world; sanctioned marriage (male and female) will become obsolete, which will cause a totally out of balance culture (Flouri, & Buchanan, 2001). By the same token, the family structure of America was originally founded on the principal of a Christian mentality, “one nation under God,” and according to Godly law for this land, same sex marriage is an abomination. God created a male and female, as the institution of family, (Perry, 2015); there is no grey area. God is the very definition of love. We love because he first loved us, but if we loved Him, we would keep his commandments.
The Word tells us same sex marriage is not right. It is not possible to have a discussion regarding same sex marriage and not bring God into the conversation. This nation was founded on principle ideas, based mainly on a Christian mentality. “One principle included in the pledge of allegiance asserted, “one nation under God,” so to try and remove Him is completely inappropriate. For so long people who are for same sex marriage argue that the New Testament does not specifically state that homosexuality is wrong: “Women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones; Men also abandoned natural relations with women,” (Romans 1:26b, 27a, biblegateway.com).
These same individuals get really upset when someone brings up the sins that were taking place before the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah; but that leaves me with this question “is rape, incest, pedophilia, or even bestiality wrong?” If the majority of the nation agrees it is ok; do you allow your thirteen year old daughter to have a relationship with a forty year old man because they are in love? Love is not something one should enter into lightly. We may assume we know what we need; we’re often deceived, (Ansari, & Alter, 2015). As a matter of fact, people associate love with lust, when the two could not be more different. Besides, who knows better the true meaning of love better than the Creator of love, God?
The sanctity of marriage is not the job of government, it interferes with the mental stability of children and the family configuration, plus it is a curse to God. To try and justify legalizing same sex marriage as a protected right of equality goes against the very nature that this democracy was built upon. Regardless what a person may choose to do with their own life is not the issue, but more of what does it do to the ever so fragile sanctity of marriage, the cycle of life, and the family structure. It also and reveals flaws and weaknesses in our constitution as a whole. The pattern by which a family is built is centered on the way “the family” has ultimately shaped their perceptions and ideas. In the final days on this earth, I would want to be a part of the family that God ordained and not the world.
