    After growing up in Plain City, Utah and moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1960s, in 1990 four cousins who worked for Swift Transportation owned by the Moyes family, brothers Randy and Gary Knight and brothers Kevin and Keith Knight started their own trucking company called Knight Transportation. The cousins wanted to have more of a focus on safety with their driving employees as well as the service for their consumers, while maintaining their advantage of being the lowest cost carrier with first-in-class equipment. They started out only transporting from Phoenix, AZ to Los Angeles, CA. As their company grew over the years, on September 8, 2017, Knight Transportation merged with Swift Transportation. Both trucking companies agreed to a merger in an all-stock contract that would give both companies a combined operational value of $6 billion. The company will keep its headquarters in their currently based hometown of Phoenix, Arizona with 23,000 tractors, 77,000 trailers, and employing 28,000.

In 2000, World Cargo Logistics emerged with a goal of providing the most reliable service-conscious, cost effective with expedited transporting to their customers within the transport industry.

    Providing truckload services that include delivering general commodity items via dry van truckload and temperature-controlled truckload, Knight also provides drayage services between ocean ports, rail ramps, and shipping docks. Along with the other services, Knight does rail intermodal services and truckload freight brokerage services. By offering these types of services to their customers, it caused a network expansion which allowed them to be able to transport or arrange for the transportation for their customers. The company transports to some of the most respected companies in America. Having many customers in apparel, footwear and accessories industry, auto and truck manufacturers industry, furniture and fixtures industry, food processing industry, transport and logistics industry, internet, mail order, and online shops industry, department and discount retail industry, home improvement industry, specialty retail industry, and technology retail industry. Their customers are able to access their services nationwide throughout the United States.

    A specific service that is produced and sold by Knight Transportation is truckload transportation or delivering services with a full trailer or container loads of freight. Being one of the country’s largest company-owned tractor fleets, as well as having access to multiple fleets of third-party equipment providers, Knight uses their nationwide network of service centers to fill up to capacity levels and incorporate a wide range of solutions to truckload shippers. Knight’s demographics stem from 35 regional operational centers, located mainly within the western, midwestern, and southern United States, loading and transporting cargos of consumer goods, food and beverages, and paper products.
