Corporal Punishment is a way to punish misbehaving children in schools across the country. I believe that this is an extreme form of punishment for children through grade 5 at the oldest. I believe this for a number of reasons. A few of them are that children could get hurt, some parents dont wont other adults hitting their children and there are also better forms of punishment. In corporal punishment, children always run the risk of getting hurt.

In some cases corporal punishment is not even necessary because in cases where the offense is not very serious then what is the purpose of the child getting physically harmed? Then, on the other hand, if the offense is great enough for physical punishment to be enforced then it should just be enforced to a certain extent. I believe that there is a fine line between punishment and abuse and this should be recognized in schools that still enforce corporal punishment. Another reason that corporal punishment should be banned to a certain extent is because of the reason that some other parents do not want other adults harming their kids in a physical way. Unless the parents give the permission to do this at the beginning of the year then I do not believe that the faculty of the school or any other adult has the right to lay a hand on that particular child. I know that when I have kids I do not want anyone to lay on my kids except for me or my family.

Another reason I do not entirely agree with corporal punishment is because of the fact that there are better forms of punishment that exist today. For instance, Say that a child has gotten in trouble doing something, that child would be hurt more if something that they adore were taken away from them for a certain amount of time than if that child were physically harmed. This is a better form of punishment that helps them to learn responsibility and it does not harm the child in any fashion. These are a few good reasons as to why corporal punishment should be banned to a certain extent.

There are many more effective ways to treat bad behavior than by physical punishment and I think that we should look at these ways more carefully and consider them as an alternative to corporal punishment.Bibliography:world book encyclopedia .
