Dress code Essay

I disagree with the school Dress code Essay because it doesn’t allow people to express themselves, people can’t dress for the weather, and it doesn’t let people choose how they want to look because it’s supposedly a distraction. The dress code is “The bottom of your shirt must at least meet the top of your pants or shorts, and undergarments should not be exposed. There must be a substantial covering over both shoulders. See-through clothing or clothing that is so very tight that it draws attention to oneself are also unacceptable. Shorts/skirts must have at least a 4″ inseam.

The dress code doesn’t allow people to express themselves through what they wear. What people wear is what makes them different from everybody else. Most girls like to wear skimpier clothes that show their shoulders and stomachs, but this rule doesn’t let them. Just because a shirt has profanity, vulgar suggestions, sexual connotations, drugs or alcohol on it, doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be worn. People try expressing themselves through the slogans on their clothes. I don’t feel anything is wrong with these shirts and I’m not offended by them, nor should anybody else be.

Dressing for the weather is really important to do, especially when it’s extremely hot out and there aren’t air conditioners in the school that work properly. When it’s hot people don’t like to wear a lot of clothes. Seeing the shoulders of guys and girls in school isn’t going to hurt anyone. They should just be able to wear spaghetti strap shirts, tube tops, single strap shirts and shirts that tie around the neck. Pants shouldn’t be worn when it’s hot, you can’t concentrate on your work, because you are only thinking about how hot it is and how much longer until you can go home and put on clothes that make you feel less hot. Of course, no one wants to wear shorts that go down half way to their knees, they are just plain ugly and most stores only provide you with short shorts.

What people wear is not a distraction. Pajama’s are comfortable and should be able to be worn. It’s not a distraction, they are just clothes. A lot of people get distracted easily and the school is just blaming it on what people wear. Also, girls can wear shirts that go down to the middle of their chests and not have anything said to them about it. When a girl has a little bit of their stomach exposed they are sent home to change or just yelled at.

I know because this happened to me. That’s just not right at all. The things that actually do distract people in this school are approved and the things that do not distract people are disapproved.
Ways to solve this problem are, talk to the person in charge of the school or you can just ignore the rule. Someone could go talk to the principle of the school to see if there was a way to change the rule and let people wear some of the clothing that they want and feel comfortable in. They could suggest clothes that don’t show to much skin.

If no one wants to do that, then they can just ignore the rule and wear whatever they want and get in trouble for it. .
