Americans across this beautiful nation do not want to spend time making shoes in this technological society. They also do not want to spend more money on shoes today. Therefore, society allows third-world countries to make shoes at a much cheaper price and provides income to impoverished families. With technology advancing rapidly every day, machines could even be used to make shoes instead of relying on manual labor. This would result in faster and more cost-effective production.

Some people may say that making shoes provides jobs for the unemployed, but those who make the shoes are not really happy. They are just getting by with the money they make. Picking up trash for the neighborhood is a job, but most trash collectors do not enjoy it. Americans would prefer, to some extent, to sit in front of a computer and earn good money rather than standing on an assembly line making shoes. Unemployed Americans, however, might not mind working for a company that makes shoes in the United States. These unemployed Americans would not mind any job that paid them moderately.

Americans like good things at reasonable prices. If shoe companies employed workers in the United States to make shoes here, prices, already high, would rise even higher. Americans might not even buy American-made shoes. They might not like Americans making shoes in the United States because shoe prices would skyrocket. Americans look at their jobs as a way of expressing themselves.

When talking about their job, they would not enjoy describing how they sew on the symbols for the shoes they make. Instead, they would like to talk about how good their pay is, how their job challenges them, or even how much they like working at their job. If their job were to make shoes, they would not relish in the fact that they made shoes. Americans like good-paying jobs, a good foundation for a family, and good working places.

Working in a shoe factory is not ideal for reliable family income or good working conditions. Some argue that making shoes is similar to making clothes, but in reality, workers in a shoe factory follow the same design all day. Additionally, most clothes worn by Americans are not made in America.

They are made in third world countries, just like the shoes. America is no longer relying on industry to carry it into the next millennium. Instead, America is relying on the rapid growth of technology and free enterprise. In America’s early years, after taking this country away from the Indians, society relied heavily on industry to accomplish the tasks needed to grow this country. Today, that is not the case.

America is putting industries in the back of its mind and bringing forth new and exciting technologies. Americans would like to sit in front of a computer screen and type away rather than working in labor factories. Americans want good quality with cheap prices. If America employed shoe factories, shoes would not be cheap or even good quality.

Most of society knows that some of what Americans make is not of the highest quality. Instead, it is made quickly and poorly. Americans do not want Americans to make shoes because they know that if Americans did make shoes, their feet would surely hurt even more.
