To Our CCCA Friends,CCCA Fundraising 2011

It has been a month since Columbia County Council on the Arts completed another successful ArtsWalk, an event that year after year brings hundreds of visitors to our community. There was artwork by CCCA member artists displayed in Windows on Warren Street in Hudson, Windows on Main Street in Chatham, and the Members Show at the Chatham Fair House. New this year was the Artists’ Market Place at the Riverfront Park in Hudson where 38 artists displayed and sold their work. Basilica Hudson hosted the ArtsWalk Literary Series kick off party and the following weekend 14 authors read from their work throughout the county at Art Omi, Peint O Gwrw, and the Hudson Opera House. The Performing Arts Festival at the Chatham Fair House highlighted a troop of actors reading plays selected from the 2011 Students’ Play Reading Contest. Other Student events included a painting project in the Pocket Park between 6th and 7th streets on Warren Street and a painting project at FACE Stockholm using donated cosmetics.

During this past year CCCA held workshops at its office in Hudson and partnered with Columbia-Greene Community College to hold workshops on their campus. We offered all artists, whether or not they were CCCA members, the opportunity to participate in our bi-monthly gallery shows and in cooperation with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, are providing artists a chance to have solo shows in the Chamber’s beautiful new offices.

Due to an internal problem at NYSCA (New York State Council on the Arts), our largest financial supporter in the form of an annual grant, we have not yet received that extraordinarily important funding. In spite of this we must still keep the arts alive and growing for our artists and our community as we have for the 45 years that we have been in Columbia County. We are dependent on membership dollars and generous contributions from individuals to keep our doors open so we can continue to serve the county.

Many of you are already members. We hope that those of you who are not members will become members and those of you who are members will make a generous donation. To become a member and/or make a donation on our CCCA website simply click on JOIN to become a member or DONATE to make your donation, or mail a check made payable to CCCA to 209 Warren Street, Hudson, New York 12534.

The CCCA Board of Directors, member artists, and Executive Director appreciate your support. We want to continue to work with all the creative, visual, literary and performing artists in our county and also continue to help students pursue their “artistic” dreams. Please help us help others.

We wish you a healthy and happy holiday season,

Jan M. Grice
CCCA Board President
